Your data, in plain English.
What we collect when you use this website or work with us, and what we do with it.
Who we are
CiteLantern is a trading name of NUOVERA LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 16677584), registered office 4 Raven Road, Unit 1C3-880, London E18 1HB, United Kingdom. In this policy, “CiteLantern”, “we” and “us” mean NUOVERA LTD. Questions: hello@citelantern.com.
Information we collect
- Free check requests. Your name, work email, agency name and website, the client website you ask us to check, the questions you send, and any competitor you name.
- Agency customers. Contact and billing details, briefs, and the materials you share so we can deliver the work. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor (Stripe), not stored by us.
- Email. Messages you send to us and our replies.
- Website. Basic technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) kept by our hosting provider for security and reliability. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
To respond to your request, prepare and deliver our services, bill for them, keep our systems secure, and meet legal obligations. We rely on our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries, on the performance of a contract with customers, and on legal obligations.
Your clients’ information
Our work looks at publicly available information about businesses: their websites, listings and how AI engines describe them. When you share client materials with us, we use them only to do the work you asked for, on your instructions. We never contact your clients.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run CiteLantern, under terms that limit their use of it: website hosting (Vercel), email (Google Workspace), payments (Stripe), and request notifications (Telegram). We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
How long we keep it
We keep free check requests for up to 24 months if you don’t become a customer, and customer records for as long as the account is active plus the period required for tax and accounting. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
Security and transfers
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. Our providers may process data in the United States and the United Kingdom; where required, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Email hello@citelantern.com and we’ll respond within the time the law requires. If you are in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
CiteLantern is a business service. It isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
We’ll update this page if our practices change, and revise the effective date above.
